Code of conduct

The AstroInfo 2025 School brings together participants from around the world with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences. This diversity is a strength, and we believe that creating a respectful and inclusive environment is essential for a successful learning experience.

We expect all participants — including students, instructors, organizers, and invited speakers — to follow this Code of Conduct during the school, including all associated activities such as lectures, tutorials, meals, hackathon sessions, and informal social events.

Our goal is to maintain a positive, inclusive, and enriching environment for everyone.

Our Commitments as a Community

As members of the AstroInfo community:

  • We treat all individuals with respect and strive to provide a harassment- and bullying-free environment, regardless of sex, sexual orientation and/or gender identity, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality, ethnicity, or religion.

  • Harassment, discrimination, or exclusionary behavior (including sexual language or imagery, sexist, racist, or otherwise offensive jokes) are not acceptable.

  • We respect the work of others, including proper acknowledgment and citation of code, ideas, and resources. As contributors, we will clearly communicate how our work should be referenced or reused.

  • We welcome and support newcomers, recognizing that diverse perspectives and levels of experience enrich the learning environment. We encourage open, respectful dialogue — including technical debates — in which all voices can be heard.

  • We welcome questions and commit to answering them with patience and kindness, especially when interacting with less-experienced participants or those new to the field.

  • We strive to model professional behavior at all times and will respond to criticism constructively. Respect extends equally to people within and outside the community.

  • We take responsibility for upholding these values, and will speak up when we see or experience violations of this Code. Silence enables harm.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all school-related spaces, including:

  • Lectures and tutorial sessions

  • Social events (organized and informal)
  • Online communication (email, shared documents, chat platforms, etc.)

Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in actions up to and including:

  • A verbal warning
  • Removal from the event without refund
  • Reporting to the participant’s home institution

To report an issue or concern — whether affecting you or someone else — please speak to a school organizer in person or contact us at: 📧 astroinfo2025-loc@cppm.in2p3.fr

All reports will be handled discreetly and respectfully.
